A light in
the unknown.
AGWI is an international student AI lab led by Gordei Verbii. We reframe AI problems through deep mathematics and welcome collaborators across disciplines and borders.
OUR APPROACH
Reframe the problem.
Reveal the structure.
We start by asking whether a difficult AI problem becomes clearer in another mathematical language.
Probability, geometry, optimal transport and control give us different ways to describe learning. We work across these perspectives, then connect the resulting ideas to computer vision, robotics, language-model evaluation, scientific computing and financial decision-making.
Gordei is a PhD student at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, supervised by Yaoyu Zhang, and studies the theory of deep learning. AGWI brings together student researchers across countries and universities, with complementary mathematical and engineering backgrounds. Research partners and an external academic advisor contribute additional perspectives.
Understanding begins
with a little light.
Our fish explores an ocean it cannot illuminate all at once. Its light reveals a small part of a larger landscape—an image of research as patient discovery.
It moves at its own pace. Guide it gently through open water; as you read, it follows along the edge of the page. You can pause the motion whenever you prefer.
Bring a question.
Find a connection.
We welcome students, researchers, and engineers from anywhere in the world. Bring a research question, a collaboration idea, or a contribution to our open code. Connect with the lab or a team member through the links below.
